The First Meeting
Affordable Kitchen & Bath Makeovers takes a different approach to construction than many of our colleagues. We recognize that many homeowners desire a higher level of service than what is offered by the home improvement stores, or the typical contractor. You will notice the difference from the beginning of our interaction.
At our first meeting, we will review your existing room conditions and discuss your goals and requirements for the project. We will review various materials that will be used in your project, including cabinets, countertops, tile, plumbing and electrical fixtures.
With this foundation, we will offer some initial suggestions as to what can be done with respect to the floorplan and the impact of certain material and design choices on the project budget. At this point, the homeowner can usually provide some initial guidance that sets a target for the initial design and estimating activities. This would include material type, material grade, scope and project budget.
It is important early on to establish a project budget. This provides a target upon which all design and material selection activites can be focused. When defining a project, the design approach and material choices can be adjusted to fit the project with the budget. By careful planning, we can assure that the costs for the project will not change once construction begins.
