The cost of a kitchen remodel will vary greatly depending on the size of the kitchen, scope of the project and quality of materials selected. There are no shortcuts to estimating a projects cost. What is required to obtain an accurate estimate is to perform a comprehensive review of the scope, design and grade of materials to be incorporated into the project. This is the process that AKBM employs in the beginning stages of our work with new clients. That being said, the information below is a rough guideline of typical project costs and should be used for information purposes only, as each project is unique.
A minor kitchen remodel (for a small to medium size kitchen) usually involves replacement of the existing cabinetry, new premium grade countertops, floor/wall tile and fixtures. The average price for this type of project runs 20-30 thousand. New appliances add another 7-10 thousand.
A major kitchen remodel usually involves redesigning of the existing space which may include moving walls and relocation of plumbing/electrical fixtures and appliances. This type of project runs 40-60 thousand.
A large designer kitchen with professional appliances, high-end countertops and premium cabinetry with extensive trim treatments will average 60-80 thousand.
How long will it take?
The estimating process usually runs about 1 week. The design process takes another 1-2 weeks. The duration of the estimate/design phase is greatly dependent on the availability of the homeowner to participate in the design review sessions. The construction process takes about 3 weeks to order the materials and another 4-6 weeks for installation.
